THE CHAIN OF LOVE

 WHAT GOES AROUND, COMES AROUND
THE CHAIN OF LOVE

One late evening, a man saw an old lady stranded on the side of the road, but even in the dim light of day, he could see she needed help.  So he pulled up in front of her Mercedes and got out.  Even with the smile on his face, she was worried.  No one had stopped to help for the last hour or so.  She was afraid he is going to hurt her.  He didn't look safe; he looked poor and hungry.
He could see that she was frightened, standing out there in the cold.  He knew how she felt.  It was those chills which only fear can put in you.  He said, "I'm here to help you, ma'am.  Why don't you wait in the car where it's warm?  By the way, my name is Bryan Anderson."
After looking at the car, all she had was a flat tire, but for an old lady, that was bad enough.  Bryan crawled under the car looking for a place to put the jack, skinning his knuckles a time or two.  Soon he was able to change the tire.  But he had to get dirty and his hands hurt.  As he was tightening up the lug nuts, she rolled down the window and began to talk to him.  She told him that she was from St. Louis and was only just passing through.  She couldn't thank him enough for coming to her aid.
Bryan just smiled as he closed her trunk.  The lady asked how much she owed him.  Any amount would have been all right with her.  She already imagined all the awful things that could have happened had he not stopped.  Bryan never thought twice about being paid.  This was not a job to him.  This was helping someone in need, and God knows there were plenty, who had given him a hand in the past.  He had lived his whole life that way, and it never occurred to him to act any other way.
He told her that if she really wanted to pay him back, the next time she saw someone who needed help, she could give that person the assistance they needed, and Bryan added, "And think of me."
He waited until she started her car and drove off.  It had been a cold and depressing day, but he felt good as he headed for home, disappearing into the twilight.
A few miles down the road the lady saw a small cafe.  She went in to grab a bite to eat, and take the chill off before she made the last leg of her trip home.  It was a dingy looking restaurant.   The waitress came over and brought a clean towel to wipe her wet hair.  She had a sweet smile, one that even being on her feet for the whole day couldn't erase.  The lady noticed the waitress was nearly eight months pregnant, but she never let the strain and aches change her attitude. The old lady wondered how someone who had so little could be so giving to a stranger.  Then she remembered.
After the lady finished her meal, she paid with a hundred dollar bill.  The waitress quickly went to get change for her hundred dollar bill, but the old lady had slipped right out the door.  She was gone by the time the waitress came back.  The waitress wondered where the lady could be. Then she noticed something written on the napkin.
There were tears in her eyes when she read what the lady wrote: "You don't owe me anything.  I have been there too.  Somebody once helped me out, the way I'm helping you.  If you really want to pay me back, here is what you do: Do not let this chain of love end with you."
Under the napkin were four more $100 bills.
That night when she got home from work and climbed into bed she was thinking about the money and what the lady had written.  How could the lady have known how much she and her husband needed it?  With the baby due next month, it was going to be hard...  She knew how worried her husband was, and as he lay sleeping next to her, she gave him a soft kiss and whispered soft and low, "Everything's going to be all right. I love you, Bryan Anderson."

BE KIND: THE HOWARD KELLY STORY

 KINDNESS PAYS
A poor boy who was selling goods from door to door to pay his way through school, found he had only one thin dime left, and he was hungry.  He decided to ask for a meal at the next house.  However, he lost his nerve when a lovely young lady opened the door.  So, instead of asking for a meal, he asked for a glass of water.
The young lady thought he looked hungry so she brought him a large glass of milk.  He drank it slowly, and then asked, "How much do I owe you?"
"You don't owe me anything," she replied "Mother has taught us never to accept payment for a kindness."  He said... "Then I thank you from my heart."
As Howard Kelly left that house, he not only felt physically stronger, but he also felt stronger faith in God and mankind also.
Years later that young lady became critically ill.  The local doctors were baffled.  They finally sent her to the big city, where they called in specialists to study her rare disease.  Dr. Howard Kelly was called in for the consultation.  When he heard the name of the town she came from, a strange light filled his eyes.  Immediately he rose and went down the hall of the hospital to her room.
Dressed in his doctor's gown he went in to see her.  He recognized her at once.  He went back to the consultation room determined to do his best to save her life.  From that day he gave special attention to the case.
After a long struggle, the battle was won.  Dr. Howard Kelly requested the business office to pass the final bill to him for approval.  He looked at it, and then wrote something on the edge and the bill was sent to her room.
She feared to open it, for she was sure it would take the rest of her life to pay for it all.  Finally, she looked, and something caught her attention.  There on the side she read these words.....
"Paid in full with one glass of milk" (Signed - Dr. Howard Kelly)
Tears of joy flooded her eyes as her happy heart prayed: "Thank You, GOD, that Your love has spread abroad through human hearts and hands."

LESSON  LEARNED
When a flower blooms, its color and scent first touch the garden near it, and then spread. In the same way, the acts of human kindness should first touch those nearest to him, his family and his neighbors.

HAPPINESS WHEN SHARED, IS DOUBLED

TREMENDOUS HAPPINESS IN MAKING OTHERS HAPPY
There were two seriously ill men occupying the same hospital room.  One of them was allowed to sit up in his bed for an hour each afternoon to help drain the fluid from his lungs.  His bed was next to the room's only window.  The other man had to spend all his time flat on his back.
The men usually talked for hours on end.  They spoke of their wives and families, their homes, their jobs, their involvement in the military service, where they had been on vacation.  And every afternoon when the man in the bed by the window could sit up, he would pass the time looking out the window and describing to his roommate all the things he could see outside.  The man in the other bed began to live for those one hour periods where he would be broadened and enlivened by all the activity and color of the world outside.
The window overlooked a park with a lovely lake.  Ducks and swans played on the water while children sailed their model boats.  Grand old trees graced the landscape, and a fine view of the city skyline could be seen in the distance.  As the man by the window described all this in exquisite detail, the man on the other side of the room would close his eyes and imagine the picturesque scene.
One warm afternoon the man by the window described a parade passing by.  Although the other man couldn't hear the band he could see it in his mind's eye as the gentleman by the window portrayed it with descriptive words.
Days and weeks passed.  One morning, the day nurse arrived to bring water for their baths only to find the lifeless body of the man by the window, who had died peacefully in his sleep.  She was saddened and called the hospital attendants to take the body way.  As soon as it seemed appropriate, the other man asked if he could be moved next to the window.  The nurse was happy to make the switch, and after making sure he was comfortable, she left him alone.
Slowly, painfully, he propped himself up on one elbow to take his first look at the world outside.  Finally, he would have the joy of seeing it for himself.  He strained to slowly turn to look out the window beside the bed.  It faced a blank wall.  The man then asked the nurse what could have compelled his deceased roommate to described such wonderful things outside this window.
The nurse told him that the man was blind and could not even see the wall.  She said, "Perhaps he just wanted to encourage you."
LESSON LEARNED:
There is tremendous happiness in making others happy, despite our own situations.

Shared grief is half the sorrow, but happiness when shared, is doubled.

If you want to feel rich, just count all of the things you have that money can't buy. Real Treasures, that has been bestowed upon us, the gift of sight, sound and smell. The gift of family and friends. The gift of life, knowledge and wisdom.
Life laughs at you when you are unhappy, Life smiles at you when you are happy, but life salutes you when you make others happy.

FRIENDS FOR LIFE

 A TALE OF TWO FRIENDS

There were two friends who were walking together through the desert.  During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face.  The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, he wrote in the sand:
TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.
They kept on walking until they found an oasis where they decided to take a bath.  The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and started drowning, but the friend saved him.  After he recovered from the near drowning incident, he wrote on a stone:
TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE.
The friend who had slapped and saved his best friend asked him, "After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now when I saved you, you write on a stone, why?"
The other friend replied "When someone hurts us we should write it down in the sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away.  But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it."

LESSON LEARNED:
LEARN TO WRITE YOUR HURTS IN THE SAND SO THE WIND OF FORGIVENESS CAN ERASE IT AWAY AND TO CARVE YOUR BENEFITS IN STONE SO NO WIND COULD EVER ERASE IT.
They say it takes a minute to find a special person, an hour to appreciate them, a day to love them, but then an entire life to forget them.

AS HARDWORKING AS AN ANT

AS HARDWORKING AS AN ANT

INTRODUCTION
There are at least 12,000 species of ants that are classified into about 300 genera and 21 subfamilies.  The most typical color is black ants, but there are many ranging from red to orange to yellow and green.  Ants are insects 'social' in the sense that they live together in society where everyone works according to the welfare of the community.

INTERESTING FACTS ABOUT ANTS

  • There are over 10000 known species of ants. Each ant colony has at least one or more queens.
  • Each colony of ants has its own smell.  In this way, intruders can be recognized immediately.
  • Ants have four distinct growing stages, the egg, larva, pupa and the adult.
  • Ants are clean and tidy insects.

  • Ants have six legs.  Each leg has three joints.  The legs of the ant are very strong enabling them to run very quickly.
  • Ants use their antennae not only for touch, but also for their sense of smell.
  • The jaws of an ant open and shut sideways like a pair of scissors.
  • The ant has two eyes; each eye is made of many smaller eyes.
  • The abdomen of the ant contains two stomachs.  One stomach holds the food for itself and second stomach is for food to be shared with other ants.

  • An ant brain has about 250 000 brain cells.
  • Adult ants cannot chew and swallow solid food. Instead they swallow the juice which they squeeze from pieces of food and throw away the dry part that is left over.

  • The job of the queen is to lay eggs which the worker ants look after.
  • Worker ants are sterile; they look for food, look after the young, and defend the nest from unwanted visitors.
  • Worker ants are given the job of taking the rubbish from the nest and putting it outside in a special rubbish dump
  • Worker ants keep the eggs and larvae in different groups according to ages.
  • At night the worker ants move the eggs and larvae deep into the nest to protect them from the cold.
  • During the daytime, the worker ants move the eggs and larvae of the colony to the top of the nest so that they can be warmer.
  • If a worker ant has found a good source for food, it leaves a trail of scent so that the other ants in the colony can find the food.

  • Army Ants are nomadic and they are always moving.  They carry their larvae and their eggs with them in a long column.

  • The average life expectancy of an ant is 45-60 days.
  • Ants can lift 20 times their own body weight.
  • The Leaf Cutter Ants are farmers.  They cut out pieces of leaves which they take back to their nests. They chew them into a pulp and a special fungus grows it.
  • Ants cannot digest leaves because they cannot digest cellulose.
  • Some birds put ants in their feathers because the ants squirt formic acid which gets rid of the parasites.

KNOW WHAT IS IMPORTANT THING IN LIFE

KNOW WHAT IS IMPORTANT THING IN LIFE
A professor stood before his student with some items, an empty jar, some rocks, pebbles and sand.  When the class began, he picked up the empty jar and proceeded to fill 1/3 of it with rocks.  He then asked the students if the jar was filled.  They agreed that it was.

Then the professor picked up some pebbles and poured them into the jar until it was 2/3 filled.  He shook the jar lightly. The pebbles, of course, rolled into the open areas between the rocks.  He then asked the students again if the jar was filled. They agreed it was.
The professor then poured sand it into the jar until the jar is full. Of course, the sand filled up everything else.  He then asked the students if the jar was full.  The students responded with a unanimous, “Yes.”
“Now,” said the professor, “I want you to imagine that this jar actually represents your life.  The rocks, which are hard, big and strong, represent your family, your partner, your health, your children, things that if everything else was lost and only they remained, your life would still be filled.
The pebbles are the other things that matter, like your job, your house, your car.  And the sand is everything else, represent the small stuffs in your life.”
“Imagine if you put the sand into the jar first,” he continued “then you will find it very hard to make room for the pebbles or the rocks. The same goes for your life.  If you spend all your time and energy on the small stuffs, you will never have room for the things that are important to you.
So what we learn today is you have to pay attention to the things that are critical to your happiness.  It really mean that you need to spent time with your family.   There will always be time to go to work, clean the house, give a dinner party and fix the disposal.
Take care of the rocks first, that is the things that really matters. Pebbles are nice to have so use them to blend with the rocks.  Set your priorities. The rest is just sand.”
